Optimizing your Ren account can significantly improve the relevance of the updates and alerts you see, ensuring that you focus on the information that matters most. Follow these steps to make the most of your Ren account.
1. Connect Key Contact Sources
The first step is to ensure that the right contact sources are connected to your Ren account. These sources are where your important work-related contacts are located, and more sources can be added from your settings.
Recommended contact sources:
- Target List: Import a contact list from Excel or your CRM to add specific contacts you're focused on. The required information to upload a contact list is First Name, Last Name, and Company. You can easily upload any target list to Ren on your computer here.
- Work Email: Connect your work email (Outlook or Gmail) to import all relevant contacts.
- iOS: only recommended for users that keep business relevant contacts on their iPhone.
2. VIP and Unfollow to Manage Contacts and Companies
You can control how often you see updates from certain contacts by using the VIP and Unfollow functions.
- VIP Contacts and Companies: Think of marking a contact (or company) as VIP as turning the brightness all the way up on that person (or company). You'll now receive more frequent and prominent alerts about them.
- Unfollow Contacts and Companies: Unfollowing a contact (or company) is like turning the light off—you’ll no longer see updates or alerts about them.
3. Adjust Ren Alerts with Thumbs Up or Down
You can further refine your feed by rating the relevance of Ren alerts.
- Thumbs Up: Click the thumbs-up button on alerts you find useful. This signals the system to prioritize similar alerts, giving you more of what you want to see.
- Thumbs Down: Click the thumbs-down button on irrelevant alerts. This reduces the frequency of that type of update.
4. Prioritize or unfollow topics
Topics help you stay informed by categorizing alerts based on specific themes or subjects. You can customize your feed by prioritizing topics or choosing to unfollow them.

5. Request Support for Advanced Prioritization
Ren offers additional support to help you adjust the prioritization of your contact sources. If you need more control, such as lowering the priority of a specific contact source (e.g., iOS contacts), contact support.
